Robert Sorrell
Born in Manhattan, New York City, Robert Sorrell’s first memory of an interest in jewelry was awakened inside his mother’s velvet-lined, red leatherette jewelry case. This interest was accentuated by classic Hollywood films when they were first being released to network television.
His early experiments with stringing beads and false pearls led to receiving advice from more experienced jewelry makers, which eventually built a client base ranging from Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to RuPaul’s Drag Race, with an important collaboration with Parisian couturier Thierry Mugler in between.
Many Sorrell Originals now reside in major collections around the world, and hopefully, the best are yet to come.
