Sweet Pea
Sweet Pea designer Siobhan O'Neill has been making jewellery since the early 1990s. Her special strength is her unique sense of colour and she travels the world searching for the most precious and rare stones. She describes the process of selecting the perfect colour combinations to create her distinctive signature pieces as similar to that of weaving different coloured yarns together. Her eagle eye hunts out the most unusual colours and cuts, and the quality has to be impeccable. Siobhan started out creating one-off pieces for the then rising stars of the catwalk such as Alexander McQueen and Rifat Ozbek, while at the same time selling her own-label parasols and umbrellas at Harvey Nichols and Bergdorf Goodman. More recently she has created statement pieces for Ozwald Boateng womens wear catwalk show. After a short period spent working for other designers, Siobhan decided to set up her own business, Sweet Pea, in 1991.
Siobhan's creative intuition has been formed by a rich concoction of design influences: the fashion and music of glam rock and punk in the 1970s, the Hollywood stars of the silver screen in the 1940s and 50s, and the high glamour of haute couture. She also has a passion for interior design and vintage clothing. She pays regular visits to flea markets for the thrill of the purchase.
Her designs are handmade in London from 18ct gold and incorporate diamonds, pearls & precious stones. Collections are understated and chic but timeless with a twist and continue to sell around the world in Japan, Europe & The US.
