Terpsichore Cameo Necklace
One-of-a-Kind, Handmade Piece.
Materials: Leather, Golden Brass, Shell Cameo
Leather necklace with a beautiful antique nineteenth century cameo depicting Tersichore, the muse of poetry and dance holding a lyre. Her beautiful profile, finely engraved in shell, is datable around 1870 and is still nestled in it's original and richly adorned golden frame.
Terpsichore, mother of the Sirens, was one of the nine muses and goddess of dance and chorus. Her name means “delighting in dance”. In art, she's usually represented holding a lyre, accompanying the dancers with her music. Her delicate profile, finely engraved in this antique cameo, is exalted by a shiny golden original frame echoing an eternal message of harmony, gracefulness and love for arts and life.
