En Shalla works outside of Marrakech, Morocco embroidering recycled food bags that would have originally been used to carry industrial quantities of rice, couscous, flour and other food commodities

The bags are hand embroidered weaving different materials through the plastic grid, making unusual patterns on the outside of the sacs.  The nature of the design and the way it is constructed enables the craftsmen each season to reproduce different patterns in a pixel like format on a blank canvas. The bag's inner linings are a patchwork of wonderfully happy fabrics that make you smile every time you go into them.
