Museum of Arts & Design
Defining Craft 1 explores the many ways craft is viewed, ranging from functional designs to digital technologies. The volume is comprised of 175 works by international artists whose works have shaped the history of craft over the last 25 years. 114 color plates document creativity in glass, clay, metal, fiber and wood and represent works by such well-known artists as Peter Voulkos, Jack Lenor Larsen, Viola Frey, Lenore Tawney, Arline Fisch, Robert Arneson, and Wendy Ramshaw, as well as new work by young and emerging talent. Works featured are drawn from the Museum of Arts and Design's permanent collection. Featured essays on defining craft by the Museum's curators David McFadden and Ursula Newman.
