One night as Thomas Diener, Miles NcNeels’s founder was walking New York City he saw the sidewalk start to shimmer. He noticed how these worn-down city sidewalks were transformed into something other-worldly and magical by the mica rock that was mixed into the concrete.
Taking inspiration from his encounter and paying homage to the way Romans incorporated precious stones into concrete, Tomas developed his signature concrete that’s malleable, yet has the strength that gold and silver possess.
His formula allows gemstones to be set in the concrete securely without using any kind of glue allowing the stones to keep its brilliance and lust.
Miles’s McNeels jewelry evolved further when Augustin Jaramillo, the current designer who took over at Tomas’s passing, fused the technique from Thomas with his own by adding precious metals to our pieces.
