Mia Hebib is jeweler and creator of Oblik Atelier. The name Oblik Atelier was inspired by the process and desire to create the most unique, sculptural, alluring, elegant and most powerful object in jewelry form. Oblik means “shape” in Croatian and forming shapes has been the underlying theme in every single piece she has created over the last decade or so.
Using a process of forming and forging with the most important tool, her hands, alongside hammers, pliers and mandrels, each piece is formed and shaped, before using fundamental jewelry techniques, like sawing, bending, forming, soldering and polishing. This process means that each piece, though similarly reproduced, retains its own uniqueness, as metal has a will of its own and the artist calls herself an imperfect machine.
Mia started her career in jewelry at the School for Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb, Croatia. Upon resettling in the United States, she attended the Savannah College of Art and Design where she received a BFA in jewelry and metalsmithing. Besides running Oblik Atelier, Mia has been instrumental in re-launching the Robert Lee Morris collection, as well as launching multiple high- profile fashion brands including AllSaints and the Coach wholesale line.
Mia says “in her perfect world, every woman that recognizes a creator of any kind inside herself would own a Oblik Atelier piece.”
